The Feel of Money; How Intention Arises

The Law of Attraction — Place Your Order with the Universe Perceiving the sound of many gold coins falling — that is called awareness.「Awareness」 and 「realization」 are two different things.Awareness is your perception, which produces your realization-action; both are vital.Awareness: if you want to practice the Wealth Deity method, cultivate the treasure vase in the sky, offer up and then draw down, you must have awareness.Without awareness there is no thought; the thought won't arise.For awareness, first is the sound of coins, second is the sound of banknotes — the sound of counting money.Banknotes don't sound like plain paper; counting banknotes doesn't sound like counting sheets of paper.Whether you flat-count or snap-count doesn't matter; there's a real counting-money sound coming out, a real 「clink clink clink」 of money dropping — that is awareness.Awareness is what pulls; many arhats cultivate awareness, using the awareness of sound to accomplish the Avalokiteśvara practice.The Avalokiteśvara gate uses sound; smelling the ink-scent of a fresh banknote — that's the scent of money.Your brain and subconscious will know what money is and how to pull it; you need this awareness.Once this awareness is set inside your body, the moment your intention arises and summons, money comes with the awareness.Understand?Disciple: Please, Rinpoche, more instruction.Rinpoche: How can you not understand!Close your eyes.Can you feel the sound of counting banknotes?If you can feel it, you can summon wealth.If you can't feel it, don't try to summon wealth — you can't summon it.Understand?Close your eyes, visualize banknotes in front of you — fresh ones.Have you ever held fresh money?Have you smelled the oil-ink scent of money?That's the scent of money.Tomorrow withdraw a million and smell the scent of money, smell the banknote, the smell of a fresh bill — that's smell-awareness.Touch the banknote — that's touch-awareness.Touch extends to liberation-through-touch.Listen to the sound of counting — close your eyes with nothing to do and count banknotes: one million, two million, three million, count them.Grab a stack of bills with nothing to do and listen to the sound of money dropping — like at a casino slot machine, you hit three sevens, the sound of coins pouring out — you must memorize this awareness.Disciple: Rinpoche, when do we need this?Rinpoche: When you visualize the treasure vase.The sky rains money — that's the Rain of Jewels Dhāraṇī.Lakṣmī in the sky — the two elephant trunks keep spraying money down; Lakṣmī's hands keep spilling money; Lakṣmī holds a jar and the jar keeps pouring money.You must have the awareness.Without this awareness you can't pull that thing in.Practice this every day!Train until the moment the thought arises, it comes.US dollars work too.Daily homework: counting banknotes.The MLM industry has a mantra — 「nod, smile, and in your heart count banknotes」 — that's the feeling.Now you practice this visualization method: in your heart count banknotes, with your nose smell banknotes, with your ears listen to the sound of coins and banknotes — count until, with eyes closed, with no money present, you can still count the banknotes, all countable, the answer comes.You must practice!Once trained, after that whenever you want money, money comes.This is the secret oral instruction.From hearing-awareness attain realization; realization is thorough-passage.Realization is to pass through, but you need awareness to arrive at it — this is 「awareness-realization.」 You need awareness before you can realize.Once at realization, no more need for awareness because you've already arrived.So awareness is feeling; feeling is awareness.We feel the sound of money — that is awareness.Feel the scent of money.Understand?Talking about this reminded me of a wealth-summoning method; when we get to 「huà lù」 later, I can teach everyone to use it.Said to be effective — go home and try it.Awareness must have scent, sound, and touch.If you do this daily, Rinpoche guarantees you'll be rich.Realization is thorough-passage; awareness is pulling.The conditions for awareness: feel the scent, feel the sound, feel the touch — and it's there.So those who chant mantras, chant sūtras, or go to Wealth Deity temples to pray for wealth, and never get it — the problem is right here: they didn't do awareness.Money has no value-exchange with you.Money leaves your hand, money enters from outside, back and forth — no affection with you.Understand?This is also an oral instruction, same as a sādhana!If you're a Dzogchen practitioner, what is awareness?With the Buddha's scent, the Buddha's sound, the Buddha's touch, the Buddha's feel — visualize in front of you clearly, then visualize yourself appearing as a buddha-state.That is awareness.At minimum the realization produced by this awareness reaches arhatship — it means the level is high.So awareness to realization is called 「awareness-realization,」 but few are those who are 「realized.」 What is awareness?What is realization?This is the principle of the real and the empty.Understand?You must understand.Understand means nod; not understand means shake your head.There can't be an obstruction in the middle, 「kind of a question, is-and-is-not」 — then this class is wasted.This whole class must be fully understood, and when Rinpoche asks you to speak you must be able to say it.This is value-exchange.If you understood it all, then next time Rinpoche asks you to repeat what Rinpoche just said — can you repeat it?Not a single sentence comes out — then no realization.Awareness plus realization — only together is it success.Realization is thorough-passage, from awareness to realization — from feeling to passage and attainment — one is process, one is result.Because everyone may not fully understand visualization practice, the final conclusion: sit down and start counting banknotes.On the bus count banknotes.Sleep, count banknotes.Close your eyes to rest, count banknotes.Count until it becomes real — 「make the fake real.」 Understand?Nobody counts banknotes with eyes closed their whole life, probably not — but rich people do, because they see lots of money every day, lots of income every day; money is constantly incoming in their brain, so when they summon money, money comes.Count to one hundred thousand, one million, then put it in your pocket.At the end, 「May the merit of this money, recite the Dhāraṇī of Dedication, flow to my person so-and-so.」 All things are merit; treat it all as merit, so it is merit.What else is merit?What you treat as merit is merit — this is called 「self-created merit.」 Understand?Nobody creates it for you, so create it yourself.You don't need external validation.You validate yourself — you are value, you have value.If you say you have no value, you'll never have value.If you don't grant yourself value, you won't shine; nothing, everything returns to emptiness — chanting won't help.If you yourself hold that you are a buddha, you will become a buddha.If you don't hold that, you'll never become a buddha.Excerpted from a teaching by Master Urgyen Topden Rinpoche on 2018-08-04
