Our Origins

Established in 2019, Fahsilin is devoted to upholding the complete body of teachings transmitted by Master Urgyen Topden Rinpoche. Drawing together the ancient wisdom of both the Buddhist and Taoist traditions, we promote a path of inner purification — helping people find refuge, ease suffering, and awaken to lasting peace.

The Aspiration Behind Our Founding

The Dharma does not arise without conditions; a lineage-centre is established for the welfare of beings. Amid the stress, anxiety and loss of meaning of modern life, timeless wisdom offers a refuge for the heart. Fahsilin was founded from a single deep aspiration: to establish a place of Dharma in this world, to bring more people into contact with these precious teachings, and to benefit countless sentient beings — offering strength, direction and abiding peace through the Buddhadharma and the wisdom of ancient culture.

Urgyen Fahsilin Buddhist Association

The Association is dedicated to propagating the Mahāyāna and Vajrayāna teachings: relying upon an authentic guru and an unmistaken lineage, it guides practitioners in the union of sūtra and tantra. Through the transmission from master to disciple, empowerment (abhiṣeka), and practice-based instruction, it leads beings toward swift awakening for the benefit of self and others, and for the adornment of the dharmadhātu.

With the Nyingma teachings at its heart, the Association focuses on:

• The teachings of Dzogchen, the Great Perfection.
• The terma (revealed-treasure) tradition and Vajrayāna practice.
• Tibetan sacred art, ritual implements, and wisdom culture.

Guiding Principles

1 · The guru as the root of refuge. The Nyingma lineage places Guru Yoga at its centre, regarding the guru as the dharmakāya buddha. With faith, devotion and pure perception, the practitioner becomes a worthy vessel for the oral transmission (lung) and empowerment of Dzogchen.

2 · Compassion as conduct, Dzogchen as the path. Taking Avalokiteśvara as the root yidam and the bodhisattvas as deities of practice, we cultivate bodhicitta and the realization of emptiness, walking the bodhisattva path without ever departing from the ultimate Great Perfection that directly points out the nature of mind.

3 · Terma teachings, meeting the needs of beings. Honouring the treasure-lineage prophesied by Guru Padmasambhava, and following the lineage masters, we preserve and propagate teachings suited to the capacities of practitioners today.

4 · Daily life as the place of practice. In walking, sitting, and resting — reciting mantra, visualizing, and remembering the guru — everyday life itself becomes practice, realizing the meaning of "practice beyond practice."

Chinese Taoist Medicine & Zhuyou Research Association

Alongside the Buddhist centre, the Association promotes Tianyi (celestial-healing) and traditional Zhuyou — the classical Chinese Taoist healing arts — through the study of ancient texts, scholarly research, and the faithful transmission of technique. Guided by the principle of "the Tao follows its own nature," it seeks to foster balance of body and mind, cultural continuity, and the welfare of society.

• Sharing the theory, history and practice of Taoist Zhuyou medicine.
• Building an educational platform for Zhuyou culture.
• Supporting well-being, cultural study, and community service through these ancient methods.

Urgyen Topden Rinpoche

Founder & Vajra Master

Founder of Fahsilin. A Nyingma vajra master whose lineage traces to His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche and his root teacher Urgyen Tenzin Rinpoche, and who also carries a family lineage of traditional Zhuyou healing — uniting the blessings of Vajrayāna with the care of Taoist medicine.
