Self-Nature's Karmic Beings Matter Most

📖Master’s Reading

Our life is not isolated but woven into a vast web of conditions. The Saṃghāṭa Sūtra says: "The most powerful dedication of merit — do not forget it is to the self-nature's karmic beings."

What exactly are "self-nature's karmic beings"? The truth of the dharmadhātu is: self-nature is "me," and all the connections drawn out from me are called "quantum entanglement." This means a person is not a solitary individual; we wear countless invisible threads linking cells, parents and kin, and all beings related to you across past and present lives.

When we practice and do good, willing to dedicate merit to the self-nature's karmic beings, this goodwill passes outward along the web of quantum entanglement. When we dedicate the merit of practice out, the energy goes out along the threads following the conditions within the body. When they attain liberation and blessing, they in turn bless and thank you, and so your merit-power returns doubled.

True practice is not fleeing beings but learning completeness within conditions. When you share good thoughts with the lives entangled with you, this power not only unties the knots of karma but produces mighty resonance. Finally, all this merit sent out becomes doubled blessing, flowing endlessly back to you.
