Bodhicitta Opens the Gate of Blessing
📖Master’s Reading
When a person seeks only self-benefit, the power is often very limited. If, in practice, we do not give rise to bodhicitta toward the dharmadhātu and beings, this is a selfish recitation, and the merit cannot be sent out. This closed attitude is like building a firewall between us and the dharmadhātu, so that no corresponding bridge can be built between the two.
Bodhicitta is not an exchange condition but a state of resonating at one frequency with the buddhas and bodhisattvas. The truth of the dharmadhātu is: as long as you are willing to give rise to bodhicitta, the power with which bodhisattvas and wealth deities bless you comes through, and the mind-power of your prayer is transmitted through as well. When you are willing to dedicate the merit of practice selflessly to beings of the ten directions, your scope and heart's capacity expand at once.
Remember, as great as the heart, so great the blessing and power. When your heart expands from the narrow "small self" to the vast "great self," benefiting beings with a mind of loving-kindness, compassion, joy and equanimity, you hold the admission ticket to communicate with the dharmadhātu. Seeing your vast resolve, the buddhas, bodhisattvas and heavenly wealth deities naturally grant endless blessing. When you are willing to accomplish countless lives, the dharmadhātu grants you boundless resources, letting this goodwill flow farther and wider.
