Turn the Wound into a Medal
📖Master’s Reading
Everyone's life has wounds. Some are defeated by the wound; some grow strength from it. True practice is not never having been wounded but letting the wound become a source of wisdom. We should not be ashamed of weakness but turn weakness into strength; the greatest harm in life can often become the start of your greatest success. We often pity ourselves over setback, not knowing that the places that hurt most are the very lesson life wants you to learn. In truth, only those with a task need to experience such failures.
Facing trauma, we should learn to "take suffering as teacher." When you have passed through illness and healed, you can deeply feel others' suffering and become a fine physician who helps people; when you have gone bankrupt and stood up again, you can become an expert teaching others to avoid risk. This is "taking obstacles as teacher." When you learn the way to break through in difficulty and use this experience to benefit beings, the place that once made you weep becomes a light that illuminates others.
Do not flee your weakness any longer. When you are willing to bravely face the most painful wound and refine wisdom from failure, the harm turns into the soul's most glorious medal. As long as you achieve "the body suffers, but the mind does not," letting every fall become the start toward success, the gaps of life finally welcome true completeness.
