Hold On to Resentment and Karma Never Dissolves
📖Master’s Reading
Many think karmic obstacles come from outer punishment, but the greatest karmic obstacle often hides within the heart. The root problem of karmic obstacle is that the resentment between two parties is not set down and the debts between them not repaid. If this life you owe no one, how would another come to collect? All adversity and evil connection in the world are the manifestation of past karma.
The grievance and anger you cannot set down are like an invisible chain binding you fast to the past. Facing an adverse connection, if you are forever unwilling and even want revenge, this value of hatred only entangles the two more deeply, replaying endlessly in saṃsāra. True practice is seeing through cause and effect — do not resent for the sake of resentment, nor be angry for the sake of anger. Learning to transform the mind and "leave the other a way out" is the wisdom that severs evil ties.
To let another off is in fact to let yourself off. When you are willing to set down clinging, replace resentment with blessing, and mend past debts with the merit of practice, you not only deliver the other but liberate yourself. Forgiveness was never excusing another's fault but freeing your own soul. When you no longer grip hatred and willingly loosen your hands, the shackles of karma dissolve in an instant, and life welcomes true peace and completeness.
