So in the wealth-deity practice, do not keep clinging to seeking wealth; the first task is to remove the obstacles and adverse conditions that rob wealth. As long as no one snatches your money or blocks your earning, wealth naturally stays steadily at your side.

Moreover, the "heavenly wealth" of the dharmadhātu is to support those willing to benefit beings. The wealth deity most fears that your heart holds only greed; if you seek wealth only to satisfy private desire and pleasure, how would the buddhas and bodhisattvas grant great wealth to a selfish person? The wealth-deity practice is never learning to be greedy for money but to awaken the "bodhicitta" within.

When you open your heart and sincerely tell the dharmadhātu, "If I gain wealth, I am willing to share it and benefit society," this great altruistic vow can truly expand the capacity of your wealth-store. Merit is the root of wealth; money is only the fruit borne. Only by setting down greed and learning to become one who knows how to give and is worthy to carry wealth will the abundance of the cosmos flow endlessly to you.
