Life's Shortfalls in Fact Have a Reason

📖Master’s Reading

What we most easily complain of in life is often the part we lack. Some lack wealth, some health, some love. Yet from cause and effect, life's lack is not by chance. What you lack this life was insufficient in past lives too — the soul's "hole."

The shortfalls we face this life are all the manifestation of unfinished past karma. If there were financial debts in past lives, this life the wealth-store has a hole, and however hard you earn you cannot keep it; if you did not widely form good connections in the past, this life love shows a gap. These gaps are never fate's heartless punishment but the cosmos's precise law of cause and effect, the particular lesson life specially reminds us to face.

Facing life's "not enough," many only stay in the victim's role and complain, not knowing that the more one complains, the larger the gap. True practice is bravely facing the shortfall and steadily mending it. Whatever you lack, work to patch that plot of soil. When you stop complaining and are willing to fill past debts with real giving and good thoughts, the hole slowly heals. Once the hole is level, "the full overflows," and the surplus merit naturally spills into this life, letting life regain completeness.

🌱Reflection for Daily Life

  • Understand that life's lack is all due to holes from past lives.
  • The gap is not punishment but a particular lesson.
  • Stop complaining; bravely face your own shortfall.
  • Mend what you lack; when merit is full it naturally overflows.
  • The gap is not the problem; not seeing the gap is the problem.
