Life Is Not a Holiday

Many hope for a life of smooth sailing, but remember: life came to the earth to learn the ways of earth, heaven and humanity, to learn to create wholesome conditions and raise the soul's stature — never to take a holiday. If we crave only pleasure, treating life as a brief trip and waving goodbye when the holiday ends, the soul can never truly ascend.

The earth is in fact a vast training ground for the soul. Only those who bear a mission are arranged to experience failure and setback; those without a task often only come to enjoy themselves and leave when the holiday is over. So every difficulty and adversity in life is never meaningless torment, but a lesson the soul must complete. The most painful thing you have ever experienced is precisely the weakness this life most needs to train.

When we treat life as a place of practice and learn to "take suffering as our teacher," our view of adversity becomes wholly different. The hardest blow you have endured often hides the most important wisdom life means to teach you. Face the trial bravely, learn to transform the mind and to mend, and difficulty is no longer a stumbling block but a stepping-stone that helps the soul awaken.
