No Meeting Is by Chance
📖Master’s Reading
In life we often meet people who cause unbearable pain, and cannot help but grieve and complain: "Why me, of all people?" Yet karma and cause and effect are never false; all joy and suffering come from one's own actions and karma. The Sahā world has no chance; all is the convergence of conditions.
Everyone who appears in your life, whether bringing joy or harm, comes bearing a task that must be completed. No one comes to your side for no reason; there is always a cause behind it. Those who harm us are often drawn by karma from past lives, a test life has specially arranged for us. If we forever stay in the victim's role, endlessly blaming fate, suffering revolves without end.
True practice is learning to "trace the effect back to the cause" and to "take suffering as our teacher." The most painful thing you have experienced is often the very lesson you most need to be trained in. Facing an evil connection, no longer bitterly asking "why me," but transforming the mind to consider "what is this meant to teach me" — this is the start of the awakening of wisdom. When you see through cause and effect, bravely mend the gap, and turn harm into a stepping-stone, you understand: all painful meetings are adverse conditions that come to accomplish the evolution of your soul.
