See the Light — Do Not Be Afraid
📖Master’s Reading
Life's transitions often come with the unknown, and people fear the unfamiliar; so it is at the great pass of life and death. The truth of the dharmadhātu is that at death, several lights of different brightness appear ahead: the first a strong white light, like a searchlight, very hot and dazzling; the second a faint white light; the third a grayish white light.
This determines the future destination. Most, fearing the dazzling strong light, choose the mild faint light, or out of inferiority go toward the gray, and so blindly fall into the six realms. The liberation code of life and death is: when the first light appears, very bright and dazzling, do not fear; abide and recite mantra, charge toward the light, and exit from the crown.
That strong, dazzling light is the pure light of the buddhas' guidance. As long as you are well-trained in ordinary time, the mind can abide in the mantra, undefeated by fear, and rush straight toward the strong light, reaching the home of ultimate liberation.
Real life is the same. We often, fearing change, would rather hide in a dim comfort zone. In truth, behind fear often hides the greatest growth. Learn to trust the Dharma and light; see the light and never be afraid; bravely meet it, and you welcome true rebirth and great freedom.
