Everyone's life needs a clear direction. The truth of the dharmadhātu is: the earth, this worldly house, is not your true home but the place where you temporarily lodge in rebirth. A ship without direction easily drifts in the sea of suffering; a mind without direction easily loses itself in saṃsāra.

Many recite "Oṃ Maṇi Padme Hūṃ" without knowing its deeper code for going home. The ultimate practice of this mantra is: "We recite seven syllables; the seventh is 'relinquish,' which means 'my home.'" The first six syllables, "Oṃ Maṇi Padme Hūṃ," seal the entrances into the six realms of saṃsāra, expressing the resolve to refuse saṃsāra; adding "relinquish" at the end — the seed-syllable of Amitābha and Avalokiteśvara — is the gate to the buddha-land.

Reciting mantra is not only repeating sound but constantly reminding oneself not to forget the road home. When we silently recite "Oṃ Maṇi Padme Hūṃ — relinquish," we clearly declare to the dharmadhātu: "I will go to the home of Avalokiteśvara and Amitābha." This is a precise navigation, guiding the soul straight to the home of ultimate liberation.

Life is a long journey; never wait until the last breath to seek direction. In ordinary time imprint this code for going home deep in the subconscious. When you firmly remember where the true home is, the soul will not lose its way, and can finally follow the bright signpost safely back to its purest original face.
