Relinquishing Is the Gate Home
📖Master’s Reading
The hardest thing to learn in life is not gaining but letting go. The truth of the dharmadhātu is: in the esoteric Dharma, "relinquishing" is not only setting down clinging but the soul's final home. When reciting the Six-Syllable Mantra "Oṃ Maṇi Padme Hūṃ," one must at the end add the syllable "relinquish." It is not only a seed-syllable of Avalokiteśvara and Amitābha but represents the pure world of light.
When facing the great pass of life and death, uttering this syllable is a clear declaration: "I refuse to go to the six realms of saṃsāra; I will go to Avalokiteśvara." This is a precise navigation, guiding the soul straight to the home of ultimate liberation.
Worldly people often suffer from unwillingness to relinquish, bearing all their lives the heavy burdens of fame, emotion and bodily desire. In truth, true "relinquishing" is not losing but the wisdom of not being held hostage by the worldly. When you can treat all things as dispensable and no longer grip clinging, the soul can escape the prison of the body and gain true freedom.
"Relinquishing" is also the highest state of loving-kindness, compassion, joy and equanimity. When the mind leaves greed, hatred and delusion and abides in the impartial equanimity without distinction, it accords wholly with the frequency of the buddhas and bodhisattvas. Only by willingly relinquishing fleeting worldly ties can one gain eternal great ease; "relinquishing" is the one and only key to the great gate of the buddha-land.
